FOLK BEYOND THE PIER
Sunday 4th March 2012 Doors Open 7.00pm - Concert 7.30pm All seats £20 Hailed as the originators of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention is celebrating its forty-fifth anniversary as one of the most entertaining bands on the live music scene. This year's Winter Tour will feature songs from Fairport's most recent studio album, the critically acclaimed Festival Bell. But the band has a vast repertoire to draw on and this concert will include favourites chosen by audiences as well as the new material. There will also be an opening set from gifted singer-songwriter Kieron Goss. Fairport Convention features Simon Nicol on guitar and lead vocals, Dave Pegg on bass and backing vocals, Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin, bouzouki and lead vocals, Ric Sanders on violin and Gerry Conway on drums and percussion. The band has won a coveted BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2 listeners voted Fairport’s groundbreaking album Liege & Lief 'The Most Influential Folk Album of All Time'. Whether you are a long-time fan or a newcomer to their music an evening with Fairport Convention will surprise and delight you.
Saturday 30 March 2012 Sheringham Little Theatre Doors Open 7.30pm - Concert 8.00pm All Seats : £12.00 Little Johnny England are a unit comprising five musicians all of whom have worked within the folk/traditional and mainstream for many years. The band features Gareth Turner - Melodeons/Vocals PJ Wright - Guitars and Vocals Guy Fletcher - Fiddle and Vocals Hugh Bunker - Bass/Vocals and Mark Stevens - Drums Vocals As individuals they really do have it covered, credits include Peter Kaye, Fatima Mansions, Show Of Hands, Ruby Turner, the Steve Gibbons Band and Albion Band to pick just a few. They have combined their experiences to become quite simply a very dynamic and fun live act in every sense. Their most recent album 'Tournament Of Shadows', attracted much critical acclaim and the ‘Johnnies’ as they are affectionately known have been stalwarts and firm favourites of ‘Folk on the Pier’ audiences since its inception.
