Dear Music Fans This season at the Assembly House although artistically great was very patchy attendance wise this time and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by the cancellations. A number of concerts were not financially viable and the whole thing was very frustrating and ironic given the festival take up. Alternatively, the weekend at Hunstanton Princess Theatre in February went very well and it was great to see so many festival regulars there. Anyway, there is one more 'off the pier' concert before the festival which sees John Conolly back in the area at Sheringham Little Theatre on Saturday 25th April. The big project after 'Folk on the Pier' is of course the new 'Rock 'n' Blues on the Pier' which we hope will evolve into another 'specialist' music weekend at the latter part of the season in Cromer. We hope to have fringe events on this weekend as well as the Pavilion Concerts. Two other concerts later this year will see Chris and Kellie While at Sheringham Little Theatre and Dave Swarbrick and Kevin Dempsey at the Fisher Theatre, Bungay, a new venue for the team! Despite the credit crunch I am dellighted to say a lot of Cromer's licensees have once again invested in the folk festival fringe details of which will be posted shortly . I can tell you that highlights will include a guitar big session with Pete Smith, P J Wright, Brooks Williams, Claude Bourbon and more. There will be a session with Harvey Andrews talking about his career on the Friday. St Martin's Church in Overstrand are staging a satellite concert featuring the wonderful Maire Ni Chathasaigh and Chris Newman. Its starts at 11.30am on the Saturday morning and will finish around 115pm. Just enough time to get to Overstrand and back! More news shortly on this. Look forward to seeing you in May, if not before? Scott Butler
