Festival News at 19th April
Hi everybody
The festival this year is looking the best ever, great as it is the 10th
anniversary (who knows where the time goes eh...)
Sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control, Meet on the Ledge will
not be appearing as part of the 'Never Chance Your Luck Against the Sea' the
lifeboat CD launch concert on Thursday 8th May. Sadly the band have decided to
call it a day! However, as well as a couple of extra surprise spots the
legendary Fred Wedlock 'the Oldest Swinger in Town' is coming all the way from
the west country to fill the spot! We still have tickets so if you haven't
booked yet it's going to be a great show for only £10. The new 2CD set has just
gone off to the manufacturers and it has come out really well! (36 tracks in
all)
As far as the three main days 9th to 11th May are concerned there are very
few tickets for Friday and Saturday and Sunday now has a returns waiting list. I
am now working very hard on the fringe events and the reaction from the town has
been brilliant. Quite a few new venues for either pub gigs or quiet concerts.
Fringe acts and gigs will be announced soon but as I write you can expect to see
contributions from the Spikedrivers, Lander Mason, Trefor & Vicki Williams, Pete
Smith, Tom Leary, Fraser Nimmo, Julie Ellison, No Fixed Abode,
Simon Care, David Hopkins and Jean Luc Thomas from Brittany, Tom Bliss, Red
Oktober, Truckstop Honeymoon and many more to come! There is also a screening of
the hilarious 'A Mighty Wind' on Friday 9th at Cromer cinema courtesy of the
Norfolk Film Forum. (Special festival price £3.50)
More news soon but just one last thing, we are putting together a 'posh'
10th anniversary programme and we desperately need a couple of photos of the
first festival in 1999, we just haven't got any! If any one has any please send
them urgently - we will of course credit you, give you free programme a CD or
buy you a pint!
Thanks
Scott Butler
PS Thank you to those who sent their best wishes regarding my recent chicken
pox experience. I was sad to miss my own Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham concert at
the Assembly House which as i expected was awesome but it could have been far
worse, I could have come out in spots just before the festival!
